New Year Resolutions and How to Make Them Stay

By now, most of us are slowing inching away from our new years resolution made only weeks ago. Many people have trouble keeping up with their New Year resolutions once the year starts to become busy. Because of that the same top 5 New Year resolutions pop up every year. Here is a list of 3 of the most common New Year resolutions and how to make sure they last throughout the year.

1)   Lose weight
There are many variations of this: get healthy, work out, lose the bulge. Essentially all that holiday partying ends up as layers of fat sitting on your tummy. And by the time the work year starts, there’s just no more time for all that exercise we promised we would do.

One way to keep this resolution is to watch your food, because you are what you eat. General consensus would dictate that the less active you are the less food you should consumer. Also start taking note of what kinds of food you eat in a day. Awareness is the first step to solving any problem. However, self-starvation and crash-dieting is definitely not the way to go.

Solving any problems starts with taking small steps, literally. Take the stairs on your way to and fro home. While it may not seem like much, results would show once you’re done with this routine by next years new year resolution.

2)   Learn something new

When was the last time you tried something new? Learning a new skill helps you socially and boosts your self esteem. Unfortunately most of us do a quick google search about the new skill we would dream of acquiring and end it with the google search itself

The trick to sticking by your endeavour to learn new things is to do it with others. When you partake an activity with a group of friends or a partner, you tend to be committed for longer. This is because you commit to not only the new skill, but also your friendship. Be there to support each other and learning new things would be more fun.

3) Enjoy life more

This is not a JOKE.  Yes, you’re busy but you need time for yourself too.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy and Jane a dull girl. Learn to take in all the beauty in life and enjoy life even when at work.

One way to make sure you get to enjoy life more is to give yourself little rewards for a job well done. Enjoy a good DVD over the weekend or treat yourself to a nice meal because you deserve it for working so hard. This means that you get to do work, and you get to enjoy yourself!

The key to keeping your New Year Resolution is to make time for your yourself. Learning to organise your time well will go a long way!
